Jaipur: The Inter-College Men’s Kabaddi tournament, organised by the Sports Board of Rajasthan University, was inaugurated here on Wednesday.The tourney was formally inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan University, Prof Bhagwati Prasad Saraswat, who encouraged the players. Wishing the participating teams well, the VC said in his address, “kabaddi is not just a game of physical prowess; it also fosters strong willpower, quick decision-making, and a spirit of mutual harmony in players. Sports are the foundation for the all-round development of youth. This game reflects Indian tradition and folk culture. It is a sport deeply rooted in our country’s soil.”

Sports Board secretary Dr Pratibha Singh Ratnu, while giving information about the competition, said that a total of 26 teams from various colleges affiliated to the university have registered participation in this prestigious competition.The annual meet will be held from October 7 to 9 and while encouraging the players, said that extensive efforts are being made to develop sports talent in the country.

The competition was supervised by Raj Narayan Sharma, an international kabaddi coach, and Babu Lal Yadav, a physical instructor and sports board representative. Organizing secretary Dr Pramod Singh briefed everyone on the detailed competition outline, match schedule, and relevant technical guidelines. Chief dean of the competition Professor Ram Avtar Sharma was also present. Professor Anju Gehlot was also present.Professor Sarina Kalia, Principal and Head of Department of University Maharaja College, expressed her gratitude to the chief guest, sports officials, judges, and participating athletes. The entire programme and stage management was expertly managed by SN Pareek.
