Patna: With hundreds of sanctioned seats still lying vacant even after regular classes for the 2026-27 academic session have begun, Patna University has announced a spot admission round for undergraduate programmes in its constituent colleges. The university described the exercise as the last opportunity for eligible students to secure admission against available sanctioned vacancies. PU students’ welfare dean Kameshwar Pandit said admissions would be made strictly against vacant seats in different colleges.Online applications for the spot round can be submitted from Oct 6 to 8, while the merit list of eligible candidates will be published on Oct 9. Admissions will be conducted from Oct 10 to 12.Students who registered earlier but failed to secure admission in any college can participate. Fresh candidates can also apply for UG regular programmes, BSc healthcare management and BSc digital electronics under the apprenticeship-embedded degree programmes through the Samarth portal. Those who have already taken admission in an earlier round, however, are barred from participating. College-wise and subject-wise vacancies will be displayed on the portal, with eligible candidates allowed to submit preferences for up to three colleges and five subjects. No additional application fee will be charged from candidates who have already paid the requisite fee.The spot round comes amid concerns over vacant sanctioned seats across PU’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes despite the start of regular teaching. The university has advised candidates to check the Samarth admission portal and its official website regularly for vacancy and admission updates.
