Prayagraj: North Central Railway cleaned up over 12,000 dirty spots across its network during the 15-day Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. The zone identified 14,837 such spots — far more than Railway Board’s target of 3,500. Around 55,000 people joined the cleanliness drive.The campaign, held from Sept 17 to Oct 2, concluded at NCR headquarters in Prayagraj on Friday, coinciding with Swachh Bharat Diwas and the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.The fortnight-long campaign was conducted under the guidance of General Manager Naresh Pal Singh.According to railway officials, a total of 4,770 programmes and activities were organised across the zoneAs part of the campaign, 555 Swachhata Pathshalas were organised to promote cleanliness awareness among young people, while 116 safety camps were held for sanitation workers. Another 837 public participation programmes brought approximately 55,000 people into the campaign. The zone also conducted 284 activities under the Swachhata Se Samriddhi initiative and 124 special cleanliness programmes.A plantation drive was organised at the headquarters under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, as NCR works towards its target of planting two crore saplings during the 2026-27 financial year..
