Noida: The body of a man believed to be in his 30s was pulled out from a drain on a service road in Sector 63. Police said it appeared that he had fallen into the drain and drowned.The body was recovered by a team from the Sector 63 police station on Saturday and sent for an autopsy. “Based on the initial examination, no visible injury marks were found on the body. No documents or other identification papers were recovered from his possession,” an officer involved in the investigation said.Officers said the circumstances leading to the man’s death are not clear. The police are awaiting the post-mortem examination report to determine the cause of death and ascertain whether there was any foul play.As part of efforts to identify the deceased, police have circulated his photographs among police stations in Noida and neighbouring districts. Officers are also checking local records and making inquiries about missing-person reports to determine whether the man could be linked to any such case.They said the body would be preserved for the prescribed period to facilitate identification. If no claimant comes forward and the deceased remains unidentified for 72 hours, the post-mortem examination will be conducted according to the procedure.“Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem findings and the cause of death. We are also making efforts to identify the deceased through photographs and by checking missing-person records,” the officer said.
