Shimla: A fast-track Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO)/rape court in Kinnaur district has convicted two men in a gang rape case and sentenced them to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment each.The additional sessions judge, Kinnaur division, at Rampur Bushahr delivered the verdict on Sept 26.The case was registered at Bhawanagar police station in Sept 2025 under Section 70 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), pertaining to gang rape. The accused were also booked under Section 87 of the BNS, relating to kidnapping, abducting or inducing a woman to compel her marriage or force her into illicit intercourse, and Section 351(2), pertaining to criminal intimidation.After completion of the investigation, the chargesheet was filed before the trial court on Nov 20, 2025.The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 under Section 70(1), read with Section 3(5) of the BNS. The two men were also sentenced to five years’ rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 2,000 each under Section 87, and two years’ rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 2,000 each under Section 351(2). The sentences will run concurrently.
