Thiruvananthapuram: BJP MLA V Muraleedharan has demanded an investigation into the security breach during Union home minister Amit Shah’s visit. He termed it extremely serious.“A group of people reportedly rushed towards the VVIP vehicle with hostile intent. It is evident that the police themselves ignored established security protocols. There is reason to suspect that ruling party workers were allowed to stage protest,” he said.The home department must be prepared to order a departmental inquiry and take appropriate action, he added. It is also being demanded that disciplinary proceedings be initiated against the officers responsible for negligence in discharging their duties.Keralam has not forgotten the attack on Enforcement Directorate officials who had gone to raid Pinarayi Vijayan’s residence, he said, adding that it was only by sheer luck that the officials escaped with their lives.All this clearly shows that the police intelligence system has completely collapsed. Govt must clarify whether under chief minister V D Satheesan and home minister Ramesh Chennithala, Kerala Police has been reduced to a rootless, weakened institution, Muraleedharan added.
