Mangaluru: The govt has decided to increase the bed capacity at the Wenlock District Hospital from 905 to 1,500 in phases.In an order issued on Thursday, the undersecretary to the department of health and family welfare, Prabhakara T, stated that additional 400 beds will be provided to the hospital. In the first phase, 200 beds will be added. Further, necessary equipment will be procured as per the Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurements rules. A separate proposal has to be submitted for the appointment of additional manpower, the order stated.The cabinet meeting held in Mangaluru recently had approved a proposal to increase the number of beds at the hospital, which has been providing treatment to patients from nearly 10 districts, including Dakshina Kannada.
