Mysuru/Chamarajanagar: A 48-year-old fisherman died in a wild elephant attack in the BRT Tiger Reserve on Thursday. Mahadeva, a member of the Soliga tribe and a resident of Kulluru village in Chamarajanagar taluk, was attacked while setting up to catch fish in the backwaters of the Suvarnavathi reservoir in K Gudi Wildlife Range, deputy conservator of forests and director, BRT Tiger Reserve, Chamarajanagar, BS Sripathi said.Soon after the incident, K Gudi wildlife range staff visited the site and conducted an inspection. The body was taken to Chamarajanagar district hospital for post-mortem examination and later handed over to the legal heirs for last rites.Forest officials visited the deceased’s family and handed over compensation of Rs 5 lakh.
