Kanpur: Moderate to heavy rainfall in the morning and evening made weather conditions pleasant for residents of Kanpur on Wednesday. However, bright sunshine between the two spells of rain led to sultry conditions during the afternoon.The day began with dark clouds gathering over the city around 7 am, followed by moderate to heavy rain. The spell continued for nearly an hour. During this period, the Air Force Station recorded the highest rainfall of 38.4 mm, while Naubasta received 32.9 mm. Other parts of the city recorded between 6.9 mm and 9.1 mm of rain.In the afternoon, clouds again covered the sky and light to moderate showers continued for around 30 minutes. According to CSA weather observatory, 5.8 mm of rain was recorded during the evening spell.Despite the rainfall, the maximum temperature dipped only marginally. It was recorded at 33.6°C, 0.8°C lower than Tuesday’s maximum. The minimum temperature, however, rose from 24.6°C to 25.6°C.The maximum relative humidity was recorded at 92%, resulting in sultry conditions during the afternoon. CSA weather expert S N Sunil Pandey said cloud movement over the next three days could lead to thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and light rain or drizzle. He added that intense humidity would persist whenever the sun comes out.
