Kanpur: A 21-year-old dancer was found dead with injury marks on his neck at his home in Ghaukheda, Kanpur, on Wednesday morning, with his family alleging that he was murdered over an old dispute. Police have launched an investigation and sent his body for postmortem.Krishna Kumar, alias Kallu, was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. His mother, Geeta Devi, said Krishna used his mobile phone from about 11 pm to 2 am before going to sleep. Around 5 am, she heard someone apparently going downstairs.When she later entered his room to wake him, she found his face covered with a pillow. He did not respond after she called him. She alerted her elder son, Rishabh Kumar, and relatives reached the house after hearing their cries.Rishabh said Krishna had an old dispute with a local. The family alleged that Krishna was stopped, abused and assaulted on Sept 21, after which stones were thrown at their house, injuring Geeta’s leg.The family claimed Krishna was an important witness in the dispute and had repeatedly been threatened against testifying. It alleged that police failed to act despite receiving a complaint after the earlier incident.Chakeri ACP Ashutosh Singh said the family’s allegations and the circumstances of the death were being investigated.
