Srinagar, Sep 23: With a customer base of 12.5 million, Jammu & Kashmir Bank is seeking to deepen its reach through digital banking, financial inclusion and stronger engagement with its diverse stakeholder groups, even as it positions sustainable value creation as a key pillar of its future growth strategy.
The bank’s Integrated Annual Report-2025-2026 presents a broader account of its performance, bringing together financial results with governance, stakeholder engagement and its wider economic and social contribution.
According to the report, accessed by Rising Kashmir, the bank regularly engages with a wide range of stakeholders, including shareholders and investors, customers, employees, regulators, government, service providers and vendors, communities and rating agencies. “Stakeholder groups are identified on the basis of their specific needs and expectations, with engagement mechanisms tailored according to their significance and impact,” the report reads.
The approach marks an attempt to look beyond conventional financial reporting and explain how the bank creates sustainable value through sound governance, responsible banking and long-term engagement with the communities and customers it serves.
The 12.5-million customer base remains one of the bank’s key strengths, giving it a substantial footprint across its core markets. “The bank is simultaneously expanding its digital capabilities as customer preferences increasingly shift towards technology-enabled banking services,” the report states, adding that financial performance remains central to the bank’s operations, with its reported earnings per share standing at Rs 21.46.
The institution also has a workforce of more than 12,000 employees, making human resources an important component of its stakeholder ecosystem.
As per the annual report, digital banking and financial inclusion have emerged as important components of the bank’s growth strategy. “While technology is being used to make banking services more accessible and convenient, the bank continues to rely on its physical network and community-level engagement to reach customers across different segments,” the report reads, adding that financial literacy is another area where the bank has maintained a significant outreach programme.
According to the report, J&K Bank conducted 21,476 financial-literacy camps, aimed at improving awareness about banking services and responsible financial practices. “The bank’s stakeholder-engagement framework also covers customer feedback, employee engagement, investor communication, regulatory interaction and coordination with government agencies,” it said.
The report says the bank prioritises stakeholder groups according to their significance and adopts appropriate engagement approaches to address their expectations. “This wider engagement is being positioned as an important element of responsible and sustainable banking, particularly for an institution whose operations are closely linked with the economic and social landscape of Jammu and Kashmir,” it reads.
The bank’s annual report also places greater emphasis on the relationship between financial performance and environmental, social and governance considerations.
With the Jammu and Kashmir government holding around 59.40 per cent of its equity, the bank occupies a distinctive position within the region’s financial ecosystem. The report therefore seeks to present J&K Bank not merely as a financial institution measuring deposits, advances and profits, but as an institution creating value through customers, employees, investors, communities and the broader economy.
Going forward, the bank’s growth strategy will revolve around balancing expansion with customer trust, technological transformation, financial inclusion, employee development and responsible governance.
“For an institution serving 12.5 million customers, the scale of that responsibility is as significant as the scale of its business,” the report reads.
