Vadodara: A 16-year-old girl who had been living with her boyfriend for three months sought help from Abhayam counsellors, alleging that he would beat her. Despite the alleged abuse, the teenager initially insisted that she wanted to stay with him.According to Abhayam officials, the girl had left her parental home after her family opposed her relationship with the boy. During counselling, she told officials that her boyfriend sometimes assaulted her and sought their intervention.The boy, however, told counsellors that he was upset because the girl did not prepare his lunch tiffin, forcing him to go hungry at work. The girl countered that she had been unable to work after an accident.The situation escalated when the boy reportedly refused to continue living with her. Following counselling, Abhayam officials persuaded the teenager to return to her parents’ home in the city.
