Swati Biswas, Co-Founder and Chief of Strategy, Finance & Compliance, Terrago Logistics Pvt. Ltd., said the JSA Boardroom Connect Roundtable brought together leaders from multiple industries to discuss relevant issues around artificial intelligence (AI), data protection and governance.
“I think the entire conversation was very well-handled, very provocative, very relevant, more so because leaders from multiple industries came across. And I think the way it was navigated by Times of India and JSA is fantastic because it leaves so many questions in your mind while you know about AI, data protection and how you are navigating in your organisation,” Biswas said on the sidelines of the JSA Boardroom Connect Roundtable Bengaluru Edition held on September 3.
She said the discussions highlighted several areas that organisations need to examine, including data protection and the role of AI committees. “There are so many loose ends that we need to look at and that got addressed today, right from data protection to how the AI committee should be there,” she said.
Biswas also highlighted the need to bring micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) into discussions around AI, intellectual property and data protection. “The fact which we missed to kind of discuss is how the MSME as a section can come a big chunk in this entire piece of AI, IPs, data protection, because 6.82 crores MSMEs, and we have to somewhere make them aware and connect,” she said.
She added that organisations need to focus on governance, timely investment and gap analysis. “We need to work a lot in terms of how we create governance, how we invest at the right time, and how we ensure the entire gap analysis is done on time so that we all can fructify it before it becomes a red alert for us,” Biswas said.
