Kanpur: Special Task Force (STF) personnel arrested a 45-year-old man from Jalaun on Monday morning in connection with the 2022 gang rape and murder of a 28-year-old woman in Kanpur’s Panki area. The accused, who carried a reward of Rs 50,000 and had been absconding for four years.Acting on a tip-off, the STF’s Kanpur field unit intercepted him while the accused, Rashid Khan, was travelling in a truck near Ait toll plaza.Officials recovered an Aadhaar card, PAN card, driving licence, mobile phone and Rs 2,205 from him.According to the STF, Rashid was wanted in gang rape case registered at Panki police station under sections relating to rape, robbery, kidnapping, murder, destruction of evidence and collective criminal acts.Other accused, Bablu Khan and Shamshad, had earlier been arrested.
