JAIPUR: A Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) team led by co-convener Ashutosh Ranka inspected schools in villages of Udaipur district on Sunday as part of the Adivasi School Thik Karo campaign and flagged poor infrastructure, unsafe buildings and lack of basic facilities.The team inspected primary schools in Demat, Pongli and Babari villages of Kherwara constituency. It said it found schools functioning out of makeshift tents and mud houses built by villagers after govt school buildings in the area were shut because they were dilapidated.CJP questioned how the tribal area development budget of Rs 1,500 crore was being spent if schools in the area were in such condition and local residents were being forced to pool funds to keep schools running and improve facilities.“At the Govt Primary Tribal School in Demat, Kherwara (Udaipur), the message for Independence Day is still written on the wall. This is because no actual teaching has taken place for a whole month. The entire building is in a state of ruin. There is one teacher and two dilapidated classrooms for 70 children. We have completely abandoned our tribal children to the margins,” Ranka said in a post on X.He added that a school in Demat village was operating out of a single mud room and food supplies were being stored inside a toilet.At another school inspected by the CJP team, members said they found maggots inside the kitchen where food was cooked for children.“Would Madan Dilwar or Bhajan Lal Sharma feed their own children food from a kitchen infested with maggots like this? Would any politician from Rajasthan – or anywhere in the country – send their children to this school? So, why are the tribals forced to send their children to such schools?” Ranka said.
