NAGPUR: The northern extension of Mumbai Coastal Road from Worli to Bhayander would be ready by March 2029, CM Devendra Fadnavis said on Sunday, while replying to industrialists from Mumbai in Nagpur. “From Marine Drive, once you enter the coastal road tunnel, you will not encounter a single signal all the way to Bhayander,” he said.On slums in Mumbai, the CM said the city had been divided into 19 clusters, with 3 years of rent paid upfront. “Plots that used to take six to seven years to vacate are being cleared in 3-6 months. In 10 years, most of the slums will be taken care of and we will take Mumbai towards being slum-free.”On charter flight parking charges, Fadnavis said Cidco’s 26% stake in the Navi Mumbai airport would be leveraged. “Mumbai receives charter flights at a very large scale and ease has to improve there. We will use our stake and leverage it to work on this,” he said.He alleged that NCP (SP) founder Sharad Pawar and Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray had urged farmers not to give land for Samruddhi Expressway during the 2014-19 tenure. – Abhishek Choudhari
