Chandigarh: The UT police registered 10 cases under the NDPS Act and arrested 10 persons in separate incidents involving alleged drug consumption and heroin possession across the city between Sept 17 and 18.Four cases were registered under Section 27 of the NDPS Act for alleged consumption of a suspected narcotic substance using aluminium foil, while six others involved alleged possession of heroin.In Manimajra, police arrested Rocky alias Bhupi near the ground behind Bitta petrol station, alleging he was consuming a suspected narcotic substance. An aluminium foil, a Rs 10 note and a lighter were recovered from him. Similar cases were registered by Mauli Jagran police against Subham and Vishal alias Hanuman, and by IT Park police against Sahil Hussain. Police recovered a Rs 10 note and lighter from each accused. All four were later granted bail.Police said the accused were allegedly consuming a suspected narcotic substance, though the specific substance was not identified in the reports.In separate possession cases, Hallo Majra police arrested Parveen alias Premi and recovered 10 grams of heroin. Sector 34 police arrested Shubham with 6.3 grams of heroin, while Sector 39 police apprehended Manish Kumar in Palsora and recovered 15.6 grams.Police station 49 registered two more consumption cases against Pritam and Devender, who were allegedly found using a suspected narcotic substance near Sector 51 and Sector 48, respectively. A Rs 10 note and lighter were seized from both. Police station 36 also arrested Ashu near LIG Flats in Sector 52 on similar allegations. All three were later released on bail.Police said cases were registered under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act and further investigation is under way.
