MUMBAI: Following a high-level review by the ministry of railways regarding water quality, Central Railway has launched war-footing measures to guarantee safe drinking water for passengers.
Key Initiatives:
- Filtration Upgrades: Installing advanced filtration systems and coolers across stations and coaching depots.
Infrastructure Overhaul: Replacing worn-out storage tanks and repairing piping systems to prevent contamination.
- Rigorous Testing: Enforcing strict bacteriological and chemical monitoring.
Following CAG observations at CSMT, Bhiwandi Road, Kalyan, and Lonavala, a special drive tested water samples from these stations.All samples proved completely safe, with zero E. coli contamination detected.Central Railway has also distributed E. coli testing kits to field offices for regular checks.Water quality and safety are being monitored as a top priority at the Railway Board level to ensure complete passenger safety and transparency.
