Kanpur: A 38-year-old woman was allegedly found hanging at her in-laws’ house in Govind Nagar on Friday morning, prompting her parents to accuse her husband and in-laws of murder.According to police, the woman was found hanging by her daughter when she woke up in the morning. Her screams alerted other family members, who informed the police.A police team and forensic experts inspected the scene, collected evidence and sent the body for postmortem examination.The woman’s brother, a resident of Siroh Sarai village, alleged that her husband frequently assaulted her after consuming alcohol.He claimed that her husband assaulted her on Thursday night as well, before other family members intervened. According to him, his niece later telephoned her maternal relatives and informed them about the alleged assault.He said the couple got married in 2012, but alleged that the abuse began soon after the marriage.He further claimed that the family had approached police several times in the past, but compromises were reached as the matter was treated as a family dispute.Govind Nagar police station in charge Ashok Kumar Dubey said the case was under investigation and further action would be taken on the basis of the postmortem report and a written complaint.
