Varanasi: Traditional and religious events were held at several places in Varanasi on Vishwakarma Puja on Thursday.Apart from govt institutions like Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW), armoury of police lines, workshops of UPSRTC and technical studies institutions, the private motor workshops and shops of automobile repairers also worshipped Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect and craftsman of the universe, venerated as the creator of all tools, machinery and weapons.The festivities commenced with the cleaning and decoration of workshops, factories and tools, symbolising the purification of one’s craft and the renewal of dedication.At BLW, general manager Ashutosh Pant, accompanied by principal chief departmental heads, senior officers and employees, performed rituals of puja at the design department. He later visited the New Block Shop, CTS Shop, Tool Room, Engine Division, Loco Frame Shop, Pipe Shop, Loco Assembly Shop, Traction Assembly Shop, Track Machine Shop, Loco Test Shop and Depot, offering prayers and greeting employees.The employees cleaned and decorated workplaces with flowers, foliage, flags, lighting and attractive puja pandals and offered prayers to Lord Vishwakarma.Pant said the puja inspires skill, quality, innovation, hard work and creativity, and wished happiness, prosperity and progress for the BLW family. Employees reaffirmed their commitment to technical excellence, efficiency and dedication.At police lines of Azamgarh, Vishwakarma Puja was organised with traditional rituals. Additional SP City Madhuban Kumar Singh performed prayers for weapons in the armoury and police vehicles. Officers and personnel prayed for peace, prosperity and happiness in the district. Senior police officials attended the ceremony, received prasad and wished for safety.
