Srinagar, Sept 15: Sultan Warriors Baramulla emerged champions of the inaugural Chinar Premier League (CPL) Cricket Tournament 2026 after defeating Ramzii Sports Srinagar by 40 runs in the final at Gen Bipin Rawat Stadium, Baramulla.
Batting first, Sultan Warriors Baramulla posted 182 for nine in their allotted overs. In reply, Ramzii Sports Srinagar were bowled out for 142, handing Sultan Warriors the inaugural CPL trophy.
Aaqib Khanday of Sultan Warriors was adjudged the man of the match for his performance in the final, while his teammate Asim Bashir was named man of the series for his consistent contribution throughout the tournament.
The tournament organised by the Chinar Corps, witnessed record participation, with 130 teams registering for the competition.
As many as 79 teams were selected from different parts of the Kashmir valley, providing young cricketers a platform to showcase their talent and compete at a wider level.
The successful conduct of CPL 2026 marked a significant milestone in the region’s sporting calendar and established the tournament as one of the competitive cricket platforms in the valley.
The grand finale was attended by J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, GOC Dagger Division and other distinguished guests from the local community.
The tournament also served as a platform to strengthen engagement between the Indian Army and the local community, particularly the youth, through sport.
The Chinar Corps said the competition would encourage talented youngsters of the valley to pursue their sporting ambitions and inspire them to follow their dreams in cricket.
The conclusion of the tournament was marked by a spirit of sportsmanship, camaraderie and pride, with the organisers highlighting the role of sporting events in nurturing local talent and promoting greater participation among youth.
