Kanpur: Vijay Kumar Sharma, father of Aditya Sharma (22), a radiology student at CSJMU who died by suicide on Sunday, has accused his son’s female friend of mental harassment and lodged a complaint against her at Rawatpur police station.Sharma, a retired BSF personnel, arrived from Jammu on Tuesday. He told police that the girl had called him four days earlier and said, “Your son does not have a good face. Tell him not to come in front of me.”He had then advised his son to focus on his studies. According to the family, Aditya and the girl had visited Neeb Karori Ashram on Saturday morning and returned around 5 pm on Sunday. Shortly afterwards, Aditya hanged himself in his rented room in Sharda Nagar. His family was informed around 7 pm.Sharma, a resident of Sundarbani, Bhangri, Rajouri, lives with his wife Sushma Sharma. Aditya, their only son, had enrolled in the Bachelor of Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology course at CSJMU about three years ago.After spending about two years in the university hostel, Aditya rented a room in Sharda Nagar. His father said that the girl had rented an adjoining room and introduced Aditya to the caretaker as her brother while seeking accommodation. They lived in separate rooms.Sharma blamed the girl for his son’s death.DCP West SM Kasim Abidi said police would investigate the complaint impartially. Call detail records of conversations between Aditya and the girl student would be obtained, and she would be questioned after police received the post-mortem report.
