Varanasi: Azamgarh SP Anil Kumar suspended the SHOs of Ahraula and Atraulia police stations with immediate effect late Monday night over alleged negligence in duty and failure to clear pending investigations.Kumar said that Ahraula SHO Mantosh Singh and Atraulia SHO Devendra Nath Dubey kept several cases unresolved during their postings and did not show the required urgency in completing investigations within the prescribed time limits. The department also found lapses in compliance with directions issued by senior officers from time to time.Taking serious note of the matter, the SP ordered their suspension and initiated departmental proceedings against both officers. Kumar said negligence, indifference or indiscipline in discharging police responsibilities would not be tolerated. Personnel have been directed to perform their duties sincerely and ensure strict compliance with instructions from higher authorities.SP warned strict disciplinary action would continue wherever dereliction is detected. Along with the suspensions, four SIs have been assigned charge as station heads. Two more SI, including a woman officer, have received new postings. All officers transferred were asked to join their new places of posting immediately.
