VARANASI: Three people were killed and six injured when a Swift Dzire car carrying nine people overturned after hitting a roadside tree on the border of Saraimir and Phulpur police station areas in Azamgarh district around 4.30am on Tuesday.All the injured were sent to hospital. As soon as information about the accident was received, chaos erupted among the family members.After taking stock of the incident site, Azamgarh’s CO Phulpur Kiran Pal Singh said nine people were travelling in the Punjab-numbered Swift car from Phulpur towards Saraimir. All of them had installed a Ganesh idol.While returning home, they were passing through Jagdishpur around 4.30am when their speeding car went out of control, crashed into a tree and overturned.In the accident, Satyam Modanwal (20), son of Ramvesh, and Nikhil Gupta (17), son of Rampher Gupta, died on the spot. Lucky Sonkar (19), son of Anil Sonkar, died during treatment at Phulpur hospital.The injured include Ansh Sonkar (17), son of Lalchand Sonkar; Anmol Modanwal (18), son of Neeraj Modanwal; Kishan Modanwal (20), son of Pankaj Modanwal; Saksham Barnwal (17), son of Tribhuvan Barnwal; Anurag Pandey, son of Sunil Pandey; and Shagun alias Kaustubh Pandey, son of Kamaldev Pandey.Singh and Phulpur police reached the spot and, after an initial investigation, sent the bodies for postmortem.
