Madhepura: The Puraini police in Madhepura district on Tuesday registered an FIR against five people in connection with the murder of Vikash Kumar alias Vicky Mehta, 30, a close aide of Nardah panchayat mukhiya Rita Devi.Vikash, the younger brother of the mukhiya’s husband, was shot dead by motorcycle-borne armed assailants at Nayatola village roundabout under Puraini police station on Monday evening.According to police, Vikash was returning on his bike from a site under construction at Nardah Panchayat Sarkar Bhawan when six assailants on three motorcycles waylaid him and opened fire. Injured in the firing, he fell from his bike and tried to flee on foot, but the assailants chased and shot him.People rushed him to Puraini PHC, where doctors referred him to JNKT Medical College and Hospital, Madhepura. He was declared brought dead. He had suffered at least six bullet injuries.Police are investigating the case from various angles.
