Vadodara: Amul Dairy will provide nutritional support worth more than Rs 1 crore to 1,300 tuberculosis (TB) patients in Anand, Kheda and Mahisagar districts under the ‘TB Mukt Anand-Kheda-Mahisagar District’ campaign.The initiative will benefit 500 patients in Anand, 500 in Kheda and 300 in Virpur and Balasinor blocks of Mahisagar district.According to Amul Dairy chairperson Sabhesinh Parmar, each beneficiary will receive a nutrition kit worth Rs 1,500 every month for six months. The kits will contain chana, jaggery, soybeans, mung beans, peanuts, rice, groundnut oil and toor dal to provide nutritional support during their TB treatment.The financial assistance was unanimously approved by the Amul Dairy board at its meeting on July 30, following the Centre’s call for greater community participation in its TB elimination programme.The initiative was formally launched on Saturday with nutrition kits being handed over to the district tuberculosis officers of Anand, Kheda and Mahisagar.The launch was attended by cabinet minister Raman Solanki, MP and former Union minister Devusinh Chauhan, MLAs Arjunsinh Chauhan, Rajesh Zala and Mansinh Chauhan, representatives from the three districts along with members of the Amul Dairy board.Addressing the gathering, former Union minister Chauhan said Amul had consistently remained committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities. The initiative was also welcomed by more than 1,200 representatives of milk cooperative societies who attended the event, an official said.The initiative is part of the broader Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which aims to make India TB-free. The programme focuses on early diagnosis, regular treatment, nutritional support and community participation to accelerate the elimination of tuberculosis.
