T’puram: Fort Police on Sunday arrested two men for allegedly stabbing and assaulting a 52-year-old man following an argument over cannabis use in Kuriyathi. The arrested are Abhi, 28, and Sunilkumar, 48, both residents of Vadakkekotta Colony.The victim, Shaiju, from East Fort, sustained serious injuries in the attack. According to the police, the incident occurred after Shaiju questioned Abhi over cannabis use, leading to a verbal altercation. Abhi allegedly stabbed Shaiju in the chest with a knife, while Sunilkumar assaulted him with an iron rod. The accused allegedly fled the scene following the attack.Fort police shifted Shaiju to the govt medical college hospital for treatment and his condition is serious.Police recovered the knife and iron rod allegedly used in the assault. The accused were produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.A team led by Fort circle inspector R S Sreekanth and sub-inspector Jagamohan arrested the accused.
