Leh, Sep 12: Ladakh Admin has launched four new initiatives aimed at strengthening law enforcement, improving road safety and enhancing assistance for tourists and residents across the Union Territory.
The initiatives were inaugurated as part of efforts to modernise policing and provide more responsive services, particularly in view of Ladakh’s challenging terrain and growing tourist movement.
Among the key initiatives is the Jullay 2.0 Tourist Assistance App, which will provide real-time safety alerts, weather updates, road-condition information and live notifications. The application will also enable users to report incidents, submit online police complaints and seek emergency assistance.
The Ladakh Administration has also introduced 20 e-Challan devices to digitise traffic enforcement. The move is expected to improve transparency in traffic regulation while strengthening road-safety measures.
In another significant step, five Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) beats have been established to facilitate rapid emergency response through GPS-enabled systems.
The police have additionally set up Tourist Facilitation Centres at remote locations, including North Pulu and Serchu, to provide on-ground assistance and support to visitors travelling through these areas.
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena said the initiatives reflect the administration’s commitment to responsive, transparent and people-centric policing tailored to the Union Territory’s geographical conditions.
He said the integration of technology, infrastructure and trained manpower would help create a safer environment for both residents and visitors to Ladakh.
