A day after Yogi’s announcement of a hike in the monthly honorarium of 2.91 lakh Anganwadi workers, the state government on Wednesday stated the payout would take effect from September 2026. Yogi announced the hike at a function in Ayodhya on Tuesday in the presence of Anganwadi workers from 6 districts.
On Wednesday, Yogi launched the ‘Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Zimmedari’ campaign at a function in Varanasi in the presence of union minister of state for women and child development Annapurna Devi and other senior BJP leaders. Yogi’s focus on Anganwadi workers has significance as they are a strong means to connect with women and rural families.
The state has already constituted three women battalions within the PAC, named after Uda Devi, Jhalkari Bai and Avantibai. One is based in Lucknow, another in Gorakhpur and the third in Badaun. Yogi recently announced that scooters would be provided to 50,000 girls in their final year of graduation.
Targeting youth, Yogi recently announced that his government would hand over appointment letters to one lakh young candidates over the next six months.
Under the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, 17,758 couples were married in the current financial year, with the government targeting 72,448 mass marriages in 2026-27.
The state government’s Rural Livelihood Mission runs around 10.5 lakh self-help groups, with over 1.25 crore rural families becoming self-reliant, including more than 28 lakh “Lakhpati Didis”. The mission has 65,544 village organisations and 3,298 cluster-level federations.The government also organised ‘Aao Sune aur Sunaye Kahani’ at all co-located Angawadi centres, Balvatikas and District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) inviting Angawadi workers, academic resource persons, children, and parents from nearby Balvatikas.
To woo students, the government has already launched ‘Project Praveen’. Under this project for 2026-27, the UP Skill Development Mission targets to train more than 3,000 students across the state in various employment-oriented sectors. The training target has been assigned to 31 training institutes. It has been made mandatory for training to commence at all training centres by September 30. Students will be trained in employment sectors, including apparel, IT-ITeS, management and others.
