Chikkamagaluru: A jeep carrying tourists from Kerala fell into a 40ft gorge near the famous Jhari Falls in Chandradrona hill range.According to police, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which rolled down about 40ft and fell directly onto a labourer’s house below around 4 pm on Tuesday. The impact was so severe that the jeep was completely mangled, and the house was also damaged.Luckily, the driver and three tourists in the vehicle escaped with minor injuries.Locals and tourists alleged that over-speeding and negligent driving were the main causes of the accident, and expressed outrage.Locals rushed to the spot and rescued the injured. A case has been registered at the Chikkamagaluru Rural police station and further legal action is being taken.
