Vadodara: A proposal to spend around Rs 1.5 crore on sterilisation and related treatment of stray dogs, along with a plan to build modern toilets with 452 seats at 46 locations, will come before the standing committee of Vadodara Municipal Corporation on Friday.Under the animal birth control (ABC) programme, the VMC has negotiated a rate of Rs 2,600 per dog, against its estimated rate of Rs 2,100 — 24% higher. The package covers catching, sterilisation, anti-rabies vaccination, ear-notching, treatment, feeding and releasing the dogs at the same location. The proposal has a budget provision of around Rs 1.5 crore.The agenda also provides for separate payments for attending complaints, catch-and-release operations, re-ARV treatment, food/isolation and post-operative care. The negotiated rate for catch-and-release has been fixed at Rs 410 against an estimated Rs 350, while post-operative care will cost Rs 200 per day against Rs 167 estimated.Interestingly, the ABC tender also contains an entry for a VVIP programme, with a negotiated rate of Rs 7,500 per day, for approximately eight hours, against an estimated Rs 5,000.The civic body has also proposed construction of state-of-the-art pay-and-use toilets at 46 locations, with a total of 452 seats. The project is being undertaken under the City Sanitation Action Plan of Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0 Sustainable Sanitation programme. The proposal envisages govt funding along with VMC’s contribution.The project is estimated to cost Rs 11.30 crore, according to the proposal. The funding structure provides for a 26% central govt share and 16% state govt share, while 58% is to be borne by the VMC.In the first phase, tenders for 26 toilets in the East and West Zones have been placed before the standing committee. The estimated tender value is Rs 9.13 crore excluding GST.The VMC will also have to bear operation and maintenance expenses of the new toilets for five years after completion, according to the proposal.
