Pune: New Age Makers’ Institute of Technology (NAMTECH) and Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop industry-ready talent for India’s manufacturing and high-technology sectors.
The partnership will focus on aligning academic programmes with emerging industry requirements and creating stronger links between classroom learning, industry needs and technology applications.
Under the MoU, the two institutions will collaborate on four areas: developing future-oriented and employment-focused curricula, upskilling industry professionals, enabling student and faculty exchange and experiential learning, and undertaking applied research projects addressing industry challenges.
The partnership will cover emerging areas including semiconductors, smart manufacturing, industrial robotics and sustainability, among other advanced technology domains.
NAMTECH, a not-for-profit educational initiative of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, focuses on Manufacturing Engineering Technology and industry-integrated education. SPPU brings its academic and research ecosystem to the partnership.
The institutions said the collaboration is aimed at addressing the changing skill requirements of India’s manufacturing and technology sectors by creating pathways for students, faculty and working professionals to gain exposure to industry practices and emerging technologies.
Kedar Tambe, Board Member, NAMTECH, said partnerships between academia and industry would be critical to developing the talent required for India’s next phase of technological and industrial growth.
“We are proud to join hands with Savitribai Phule Pune University, an institution with a rich academic legacy, to contribute towards developing future-ready skills in the semiconductor and high-technology sectors,” Tambe said.
He said the partnership would also seek to create greater opportunities for women in engineering and technology education.
The MoU also provides for collaboration on industry-oriented applied research, allowing faculty and students to work on real-world challenges and strengthen links between academic research and industrial applications.
NAMTECH said the partnership aligns with India’s broader manufacturing and technology ambitions and its efforts to build a workforce equipped for advanced industrial technologies.
