Prayagraj: Two criminals, including a history-sheeter carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh and wanted under the Gangsters Act, were injured and arrested along with three of their accomplices in a police encounter near Dhobi in Pattishah village under the limits of Hathgaon police station in Fatehpur district early Tuesday, police said.The criminal identified as Riyaz Qureshi, a history-sheeter carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh and wanted under the Gangster Act, sustained an injury to his right leg, while his brother, Israr Qureshi, a resident of Pattishah, sustained an injury to his left leg during the encounter. Both were admitted to the district hospital for treatment.Three of their accomplices — Shankar Sahu (22) of Pattishah, Rehan alias Chhotu (35) of Bakarganj and Hanif (38) of Piranpur — were also arrested after a brief chase.Police also recovered two country-made 0.315-bore pistols, two live rounds, two bikes, one iron chopper, two knives, one square wooden block, one yellow tarpaulin sheet, three ropes or cords, one packet of black plastic polythene and one live bovine animal near the spot.Police said more than 33 cases were registered against Riyaz at different police stations in Fatehpur and other districts, while more than 15 cases were registered against Israr across Uttar Pradesh.
