Gurgaon: MCG is set to begin renovating and beautifying six parks in the city at an estimated cost of Rs 1.6 crore. Officials said the work is expected to begin shortly. Of the six parks, four are located in Sector 23 and two in Sirhaul village. The civic body is also looking to improve the parks’ recreational infrastructure as part of the beautification effort.According to MCG estimates, the four parks in Sector 23 will be renovated at a cost of Rs 99.7 lakh, while Rs 61.4 lakh has been earmarked for the two parks in Sirhaul.“The work will soon begin, and the Sirhaul village parks will be completed in three months and the Sector 23 parks in four months after the contractors are finalised,” said MCG executive engineer Sandeep Dhundhwal. As part of the redevelopment, walking tracks and open gyms will be constructed in the parks. Water sprayers will also be installed, while plantation and canopy development will be undertaken to improve the green cover and provide shaded areas for visitors.Meanwhile, MCG has revised its park maintenance rates in line with the policy of the ULB department. The maintenance rate has been increased from Rs 4.63 per square metre to Rs 4.86 per square metre, representing an increase of about 5%.Officials said the revised rates would be applicable to park maintenance works undertaken by the civic body. The increase is part of the broader revision of maintenance rates prescribed by the ULB department.“The latest renovation projects are part of the MCG’s efforts to upgrade public parks and improve basic amenities and landscaping in residential areas. Our teams will monitor the execution of the works and completion timelines once the projects are taken up,” added the executive engineer.
