Nagpur: Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule (NCP-SP) on Sunday urged chief minister to rein in his ministers after cabinet minister Gulabrao Patil told teachers to move students from English-medium schools to Marathi-medium schools in the way political parties engineer defections.Patil, Jalgaon’s guardian minister, made the remark at a Teachers’ Day event in Jalgaon on Sept 5. He cited smaller family sizes and competition from English-medium schools as reasons for falling enrolment in Marathi-medium schools. His comment drew laughter at the event and later criticism, according to media reports.Asked about Patil’s party, Sule said, “Isn’t he in the ruling alliance?”“I think next time when the chief minister comes, since he meets you once a week, tell him humbly on behalf of all of us, rein in your MLAs and ministers,” she said.“We fold our hands and request this. We do not do politics over education, we take this subject very seriously,” she added.
