Surat: Surat rural police identified two suspects, both women, from Godavadi village for their alleged involvement in the murder of the 22-year-old computer engineer woman.Police are also verifying their movement on the night of the crime to confirm their presence at the spot of crime.Police are also going to get psychological tests of the suspects done following court approval to confirm their involvement. “Of the few suspects, at least two are involved in the crime. After scanning of hundreds of individuals, the suspects have been identified and the investigation is focused around them,” said a police officer. “We will get their psychological tests done after court approval.”Police are gathering details about the background of the suspects and any conflict with the deceased that led to a brutal murder. The way the deceased was killed, police suspected some reasons behind it.The woman was found murdered early on Aug 24 when her parents returned from a pilgrimage. She was alone at home that night and taking advantage of that, some people entered the house, police said. There were no signs of forced entry into the house. Investigators stated that the assailant allegedly strangled her using the drawstring of shorts and a mobile charger cable, and also smothered her using two plastic bags. Police said injuries were found around her private parts.The woman was preparing for higher studies in Canada. Her broken mobile phone was recovered from a water tank outside the house a day later during the investigation. Due to its damaged condition, police could not recover any important details from it immediately and the phone was sent to Directorate of Forensic Science, Gandhinagar, for further examination.Police said that the mobile phone can help police get some important clues.
