NOIDA: Residents of Sector 51, particularly those living in blocks A and B, have raised concerns over the deteriorating condition of parks and recreational facilities.The RWA president of the two blocks, Anita Joshi, has submitted a formal request to the horticulture department seeking repairs to the open gym in the park, where floor tiles and equipment have been in poor condition for a long time.Complaints regarding the broken swings and the poor state of the Block B fountain have emerged daily. Emphasising the need for immediate action, Joshi further noted that the park’s main gate has also been broken for a long time now.The horticulture director, Anand Mohan Sing, said that they have seen the requests and will address the listed issues soon.Sanjeev Kumar, RWA general secretary of blocks C to F, raised complaints about the accumulation of soil and algae on the walking tracks in parks, which he said poses serious slipping hazards, particularly affecting elderly residents.Additionally, residents said longstanding structures at the parks are decaying. A helicopter play structure in the Sector 51 Children’s Park has been broken for nearly two years, while a boat structure has been neglected for over six years and is now covered in algae.The decaying equipment not only takes up valuable space but also presents injury risks, residents added.“While contractors have been paid handsomely for their services, the lack of oversight has led to the parks falling into disrepair. Lowhanging branches and filthy toilets are additional problem areas leading to the decline in the park’s upkeep,” Kumar said.Residents also said that two rainwater harvesting pits, constructed about three years ago, have never been maintained, rendering them useless.Noida officials, meanwhile, assured residents that action will be taken soon.
