Times News NetworkKanpur: People from the Muslim community took out a procession across the city on the occasion of Eid-Milad-un-Nabi on Wednesday.A large number of Muslims participated in the procession, carrying religious flags and reciting Naat (poetry) in the glory of Prophet Muhammad. The procession taken out from the Parade Ground passed through its traditional routes. Rose flower petals were showered at various junctions during the procession.Every year, Jamiat Ulema takes out Julus-e-Muhammadi to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad. The procession starts from the Parade area and culminates at Phool Bagh after passing through various routes. At around 1 pm on Wednesday, the procession began from the city’s historic Parade Ground. Jamiat Ulama Hind state vice-president Aminul Haq Qasmi and Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal flagged off the procession.Jamiat Ulema Hind state vice-president Aminul Haq Qasmi said that under the supervision of Jamiat Ulema Hind, the p[rocession has been taken out for about 114 years. The purpose of the procession is to spread the message of humanity, brotherhood and peace.Along the route of the procession, sweets were distributed to people at various places. At many locations, stalls for food and drinks have also been set up. From the elderly to youth and children, a large number of people took part in the procession.Police took special precautions in communally sensitive areas, with a huge deployment of police force. Drones were used to monitor all the processions in the city. Almost all senior officers, including Commissioner of Police Raghubir Lal and additional commissioner of police (Law & Order) Vipin Tada, kept extra vigil throughout the procession route, besides police forces continued to patrol on foot on the procession route.
