Prayagraj: Three persons were arrested by Puramufti police on Wednesday in connection with Monu’s killing case. Monu was allegedly abducted and killed by a group of SUV-borne miscreants near Mahilagram ghat area in Kaushambi district on Aug 19. The killers had dumped his body into river Yamuna.During interrogation, the prime accused, Nem Singh (father-in-law of Monu’s brother) and his nephew, Puneet, confessed to the murder. The police are now conducting a search operation in Yamuna to recover the body.The slain youth’s family members had on Tuesday created a ruckus at Puramufti police station demanding the recovery of the abducted Monu.Monu’s brother was married to a woman from the Sandipan Ghat area. A few months back, the woman died under mysterious circumstances. On a complaint filed by the woman’s family, the police registered a case of dowry death against three persons, including Monu, his brother and their mother. Monu’s brother and his mother were sent to jail.On Aug 19, Monu’s family approached Puramufti police and accused unidentified persons of Monu’s abduction. On Tuesday night, the police detained and interrogated Nem Singh (father-in-law of Monu’s brother) and his nephew who revealed that they murdered Monu on Aug 19 and dumped his body into Yamuna from a bridge near Mahilagram.A senior cop said Nem Singh was the mastermind behind Monu’s murder.
