Bhubaneswar: Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) has facilitated the filing of Geographical Indication (GI) registration applications for three products of the state in the last few months, said its officials at a news conference here on Sunday. The products are Sambalpur sarsatia, a sweet; Dhenkanal Pala Brinjal; and Manikapatna curd, an age-old dairy product associated with the Manikapatna area of Puri, and its rich mythological and cultural heritage, including the legend of Kanchi Abhijan.Professor Dayanidhi Mishra said responses to the first examination reports issued by the Geographical Indications Registry for all three applications had also been submitted.OUAT is also pursuing documentation and the application process for GI registration of two other agricultural products of Odisha — Keonjhar Pejua biri and Koraput bati mandia.
