Chandigarh: A 22-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound inside his car in Sector 17 on Saturday night. The deceased, Ajay Gill, was a resident of Ludhiana and a student at a local university. He was staying in Kharar, Mohali.According to police, Ajay came to Chandigarh with a friend and attended a party at a nightclub in Sector 26. After leaving the nightclub, the two reportedly reached a liquor vend in Sector 17.Police said Ajay’s friend went to the liquor vend to purchase liquor while Ajay waited inside the car. The friend allegedly heard a gunshot and rushed back to the vehicle to find Ajay lying in a pool of blood. He rushed him to GMSH-16, where doctors declared him brought dead. The hospital informed the Sector 17 police about the incident.Senior police officers, including SPS Sondhi, DSP, Central Division, and the SHO of Sector 17 police station, reached the hospital along with a forensic team.Police said the bullet struck Ajay in the temple and that he appeared to have died instantly. Investigators are examining all possible angles, including whether the firearm discharged accidentally or whether Ajay died by suicide.
