Bokaro: The water level at Tenughat Dam decreased on Monday, with the reservoir recorded at 846.80ft (258.10 mt) as against 852ft on Sunday, according to the reservoir level report issued by the Tenughat Dam Division authorities.The reservoir recorded a gross storage of 38,441 hectare-metres and live storage of 22,236 hectare-metres on Monday as against 44,526 hectare-metres on Sunday, dam authorities said.Water is being released from Tenughat Dam at 7,250 cusecs per second. Eight radial gates will remain open for discharge, along with one under-sluice gate.The dam’s maximum conservation level is fixed at 852 feet, where the reservoir’s gross storage capacity is 44,526 hectare-metres. The current level is about 5.20 feet below the maximum conservation level.The flood control cell of the Tenughat Dam Division has shared the reservoir level and discharge details with officials of the Jharkhand Water Resources Department and the Irrigation and Waterways Department of West Bengal. The report has also been forwarded to the deputy commissioners and superintendents of police of Bokaro and Dhanbad, the sub-divisional officer and sub-divisional police officer of Bermo, disaster management authorities and other officials for monitoring and necessary coordination as the controlled discharge continues from the dam.
