Bahadurgarh: Police in Haryana have arrested two more suspects, including one carrying a Rs 5,000 reward, in connection with an illegal newborn trafficking network, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to 23.Inspector Naresh Kumar said a joint team from the anti-vehicle theft unit and CIA-2, Bahadurgarh, apprehended the suspects, identified as Pargat Singh and Mukhpal Singh, in Muktsar Sahib, Punjab, after days of technical surveillance and local intelligence gathering. Pargat Singh carried a reward of Rs 5,000.The illegal network operates across multiple states, targeting vulnerable parents to source infants before selling them to childless couples for sums ranging between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 8 lakh.A local court granted police eight days of custody to interrogate the duo and trace the financial chain. Police are probing potential hospital connections and working to identify further syndicate members and locate previously sold children.Twenty-one other suspects, including middlemen, biological parents and illegal buyers, had previously been detained as part of the ongoing investigation.
