Srinagar, Aug 13: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has joined the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, with prominent heritage monuments in Srinagar being illuminated in the colours of the national flag to mark the spirit of Independence.
In a statement issued here, it said that under the jurisdiction of the ASI’s Srinagar Circle, City Sub-Circle Lal Mandi, the historic Shankaracharya Temple and Pari Mahal have been illuminated in the Tricolour as part of the campaign.
The initiative seeks to encourage citizens and visitors to celebrate the country’s Independence by displaying the national flag and engaging with India’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
The ASI has also invited visitors to proudly display and pose with the tricolour at protected historical monuments and heritage sites, turning the campaign into a public celebration of national pride and India’s cultural legacy.
The illumination of the two iconic Srinagar monuments in saffron, white and green adds to the festive atmosphere surrounding the Independence Day celebrations and highlights the close connection between the country’s cultural heritage and its national identity.
