Kanpur: Ajitmal police arrested a cow slaughter suspect carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his arrest following an encounter in Auraiya district early Wednesday.The accused, identified as Mubarak Husain alias Raja (32), is a resident of Islamnagar in the Babarpur-Ajitmal area of Auraiya district.The encounter took place during a vehicle-checking drive on the Bhikhepur-Jua route.Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Alok Mishra said, the accused attempted to flee after being intercepted. While trying to escape, his motorcycle allegedly slipped, following which he opened fire at the police team.Police retaliated and shot him in the right leg before taking him into custody. He was later admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Ajitmal for treatment.Police recovered a .315-bore country-made pistol, four live cartridges, four empty cartridge cases and a motorcycle without a registration number from his possession.Circle Officer (CO) Ajitmal Manoj Gangwar said the accused has over 18 criminal cases registered against him.Further legal proceedings are underway, police said.
