Cuttack: Days after an alleged confrontation involving BJP MLA Prakash Chandra Sethi and Ravenshaw University hostel wardens over the unrest at East Hostel, the university on Wednesday replaced chief warden Sudarshan Mishra and appointed Purnendu Padhi in his place.The move comes amid a series of controversies surrounding hostel management in recent weeks.As per the university notification, Raja Kishore Prusty has been appointed as the new deputy warden of East Hostel, replacing Rabiul Ansary. Ansary had faced calls for his resignation from students following a dispute over the locking of hostel rooms on Aug 2.The university has changed a total of 26 wardens and deputy wardens across 13 hostels as part of the reshuffle.Vice-chancellor Arka Kumar Das Mohapatra said, “The changes were aimed at improving the functioning of the hostels and strengthening the administrative mechanism. Along with the chief warden, we have changed wardens and deputy wardens across 13 hostels of the university.”The reshuffle has been carried out purely with the objective of strengthening hostel administration, the VC said. “We expect the new team to work with greater sensitivity and responsibility for the welfare of students,” Das Mohapatra added.
