Bhayandar: A case of a minor girl being raped after being threatened with the viral circulation of an obscene video has come to light in Vasai. The Navghar police in Bhayandar have registered a case against three persons under rape charges and Pocso Act, and have arrested the main accused in the case.The 17-year-old survivor, a resident within the jurisdiction of Manikpur police station in Vasai, came in contact with a 24-year-old man from Nalasopara in Dec 2025. According to police, the survivor’s 16-year-old female friend and another acquaintance allegedly took her to a lodge in Bhayandar, where the accused took advantage of her being a minor and established physical relations with her. He allegedly filmed an obscene video of her and sent it to her via Instagram. Threatening to make the video viral, the accused allegedly called her to the lodge in Bhayandar repeatedly between Dec and July, and raped her on multiple occasions.The survivor eventually mustered the courage to approach the police and filed a complaint. Based on her statement, a case has been registered under Sections 64 and 64(2) (rape), Section 351 (criminal intimidation) and Section 3(5) (common intention) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.“We have arrested the main accused and further investigation into the case is underway,” said Amol Tanpure, Assistant Police Inspector, Navghar police station.
