Pune: Dr DY Patil Vidyapeeth will launch a Genomics and Precision Medicine Laboratory at the university’s Dental College and Hospital in Pimpri on Tuesday.Smita Jadhav, Pro Vice Chancellor, said, “We believe this facility will contribute to developing precision healthcare solutions that are more relevant to India’s diverse population. It will help train clinician scientists capable of addressing future health challenges through advanced molecular research”University officials said the laboratory will serve as a common research platform for students and faculty from medicine, dentistry, nursing, physiotherapy, biotechnology and allied health sciences. Among the first projects planned at the facility are genomic profiling for non communicable diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer and clinical validation of biomarkers for early disease detection.
