Panchkula: Shivalik Vikas Manch has urged Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini to amend the Model Online Transfer Policy-2026 to extend “couple case” benefits to govt employees whose spouses work in the private sector and other non-govt organisations. In a memorandum, Manch president Vijay Bansal said the current policy grants 10 merit points only to employees whose spouses are in govt service, excluding those working in banks, LIC, PSUs, universities, educational institutions, private companies and self-employment.Bansal argued that the provision aims to keep spouses posted together and reduce the social and financial hardships of living apart. Restricting the benefit based on the spouse’s employer, he said, defeats the policy’s purpose and discriminates against thousands of employees. He also raised concerns over equality under Articles 14 and 16 of the Constitution and suggested mandatory verification of a spouse’s employment through official documents to prevent misuse. The Manch has urged the state govt to extend the 10-point benefit to all govt employees whose spouses are engaged in lawful and verifiable employment, profession, business or self-employment in Haryana, Chandigarh or Delhi.Blurb:Shivalik Vikas Manch says the transfer policy unfairly excludes employees whose spouses work outside the government sector and has sought equal benefits for all eligible couples.
