Amritsar: A 22-year-old man was arrested and a hotel operator booked after the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl at a hotel near the Golden Temple, police said on Sunday.Police identified the accused as Vishaldeep Singh. He has been booked under Sections 4 and 17 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 65(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The hotel operator, Sukhpreet Singh alias Sukh, has also been booked in connection with the case.According to police, the incident came to light after the minor informed her family, following which a complaint was lodged at B Division police station.Station house officer Kirandeep Singh said the investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly taken the minor to a hotel, where the offence took place. Police are also investigating whether the hotel complied with guest verification norms while allotting the room.The accused was produced before a court and remanded in police custody. Further investigation is underway, the station house officer said.
